GarageMonkey, a multi-platform network focused on auto and motorsports-related content, once again revved up its engines for a road trip event with top influencers in tow. The purpose of the second annual trip was to garner buzz ahead of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show — a tentpole trade show that’s currently taking place in Las Vegas.
GarageMonkey’s road trip kicked off last Sunday and culminated in Vegas after multiple pit-stops along the way, where creators were given the opportunity to produce exclusive and branded content for their respective YouTube channels. This year, GarageMonkey worked directly with YouTube on the Road To SEMA event. The video giant furnished pre-release VR180 gear so that creators like ChrisFix, Eric Cook, Adnan Ebrahim, and Jason Fenske could produce content in the nascent virtual reality format.
Shell and Dodge were also back as sponsors, with the latter providing nine vehicles as the creator fleet moved from the Ortega Highway to Palm Desert through Joshua Tree National Park and ultimately ended up in Vegas.
This year’s participants count a collective 9 million YouTube subscribers and 17 million followers across social media. In addition to the above YouTubers, they included: Kyle Lindsey, Matt Maranowski, Rob Dahm, Brian Buckner, Matt Myrick, Charles Sanville, Matt Pavel, and Erica Schrull. At the SEMA Show, the creators participated in a keynote panel as well as multiple NewFronts-inspired presentations about how those within the auto industry can better harness influencer marketing opportunities.
